When the average cashew is ready to be treated and packaged, it’s already traveled about 10,000 miles. All cashews are then doused in a toxic chemical, aluminum phosphide poison, that even organic cashews can’t escape.
We started Beyond to innovate the cashew industry. Not only do we deliver the best tasting cashews, but we also harvest them from a fair trade, sustainable farming community in Africa. Most importantly, they will not be handled at the hands and livelihoods of oppressed workers.
By growing and harvesting our cashews all in one community, we are working to embolden Benin’s local economy. They’re lovingly processed close to home without exposure to harmful toxins. Then they’re roasted, salted, and packaged right there, a few hundred feet away.
From the thriving farmer that harvested them to his neighbor for handling, our cashews travel less than 100 miles. Beyond employs locals in Benin, which abolishes the need to export cashews to workers in unimaginable working conditions in other countries.
